Below is a link that ranks diffrent media from best to worst.

In order to look up the correct disc you have on the list you will more then likly need a program that will tell you what the ID is of the Blank Media. Example: my brtoehr-inlaw bought some Imation DVD's from walmart. When I looked up the Media ID it was FUJIFILM03. So download a Media ID identifier program and make sure of what you have.

Another Media Guide:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia

If you need a Media ID program then go to the link below and download VSO Inspector. It is free and it is down close to the bottem of the linked page.

Sony, Maxell, and Fuji are good as long as they say made in Japan on the label.

Verbatim, Ritek, and Taiyo Yuden are also rated high.

@alatony

might want to try www.rima.com, SOMETIMES they have cheaper shipping, just got to price shop around...

also, newegg.com also has VERY good shipping rates, sometimes FREE or only a few dollars...but, their pricing on the actual Taiyo Yudens are much higher than supermediastore, rima, meritline, shop4tech, etc...

just got to keep your eyes peeled for promotional "free shipping" items from time to time...or coupon codes for like 10% off, etc...

good luck and happy holidays

The Fuji DVD-R MIJ (TYG02 TYs) are at Staples in the #30 spindals. They periodically go on sale for $8.94/30. I got #120 last time they ran the sale. They are back in stock and the spindals contain multicolored disks (blue, green, yellow). Cases colored to match go on sale at same time.

I have used the 8X DVD-R FUJIFILM03 MIT. They're OK just not as good as the MIJ variety. They are prob better than the Prodisc Fujis.

do NOT buy fujifilm! they are absolute junk, you can see lines all over all the DVD R's in the light and i had to burn at least 6 coasters untill i got a perfect burn, most of the time i got loads of blotches where the DVD R did not burn properly. dont buy these peices of junk! i am changing back to maxwell soon! maxwell are the real true A* media.

if you are going to refer to the good stuff, at least give proper credit where it is due.... :)

as aabbccdd said, Maxwell = artist/ or a brand of coffee- known as Maxwell House here, it's decent..not bad actually...

Maxell = media brand

jalaneme,
Like I said, Fujifilm dvd media is a good media if it is made in japan regardless of DVD+R or DVD-R becos it's ID is taiyo yuden ltd.
I got no ideas fujifilm that was made by ritek. It could made in taiwan.
If your fujifilm is silver on the top, most likely it is made in japan.
