this is something that I am curious of.......the largest memory stick currently is the 2 gig (aside from that 4 gig pack that attatches to the back)......does anyone know if sony is planning on making a larger memory stick to compete with Ipod......cuz psp blows ipod out of the water....except for the memory size......

I don't know, but if your thinking 5gb, 10gb or even 20gb i think it would cost too much

yah but they need to do something to compete with ipod.....i do understand it would be expensive......but i bet they can accomodate the cost to sell......plus it honestly cannot cost them that much to make a stick

There are 4gig Sony memory sticks. They are not cheap. think the cheapest ive seen was 750.00 for one.

if apple can make a 30gb ipod for £219
im sure sony could do the same - its just getting it to fit the psp thats the hard part
id buy one for that price

Whoah there, it's not like the ipod and psp are made to do the same thing, i wish people would stop comparing the two. How can you possibly say sony are ripping us off, when we get something that plays 3d games, browses the internet, plays movies from umd and mem stick, plays music and all on a 24 bit colour widescreen that's so much bigger than the ipod's it's a joke?
a 30 gig hdd these days is so cheap it's ridiculuos, that shit pisses me off, open your eyes it's apple that are ripping people off. You're paying around $11 dollars per gig with the apple ipod, how is that good value when all it does is play music and allow you to see pics on a postage stamp sized screen? APples and oranges mate, apples and oranges.

That's right, you can't compare a hardisk Ipod to a flash memory stick. Flash memory is currently more expensive, but more compact. Besides, and Ipod video can't compete with a PSP in terms of features, yet it is way more expensive.

Sorry for the double post, but anyone know whre to find some decent comics for the psp? I checked those free ones listed on psp3d or hacks or whatever, but i don't want to read about some 13 yr old girl and shit, i want the good stuff, DC etc.

I wouldnt worry about the 4gb memsticks.... think about the size of the duo... the memstick pro and CF cards are the only ones that go 4gb or higher, and thats basically because they are BIGGER.
Wait till after the ps3 comes out, and all that hype dies down, then sony will be back with a psp2, sporting a HDD, no need for memsticks. If sony are smart, they should distribute their games differently and be able to dispose of UMDs too. Theyre ridiculous IMO

UMD movies are a joke anyway, they want $45 for a umd movie here (aus), you'd have to be completely fucked to pay that much for a cut down dvd movie lol.

they are afterall two differnt things
i was saying if you can get a 30gb ipod at the size that it is
i'm sure sony could come up with something similar
for a sinilar price

Yeah sorry raven, was a bit stressed when i was on here last night lol, it's amazing how this time of year can wear me down. Tell truth i'm surprsied sony haven't released a more substantial hdd for it, or one at all for that matter, Datel make the other one no?

yeh they do but its actually a little bit thicker than the psp so it screws with the feel and its quite heavy
so...
ill wait for the second generation
which they will probably make

Sony has a 4 gig stick and a 8 gig memory stick the exact same size as the ones available now. I have seen pics but not sure when they will be released.

I wish the memory cards were cheaper i dont have the money to buy them lol. I wonder how much prophit they make off of one memory card. I cant imagine the memory card costing too much to make.

I imagine the 4 and 8GB sticks will cost over $400. That's crazy man. Hell, I even questioned my sanity after paying $150 for 2GB. Then, I read some people use those Apacer portable hard drives with USB that can plug right into the PSP and without the use of a PC, you can transfer your stuff from the hard drive to the PSP. So in essence, it is a larger storage tank and when you need a refill on the go, there it is.
Or, stick with the memory card, but expect high prices for the first year at least and cheaper 2GB cards for the rest of us.

It is correct that the 8 gig stick willnot work with the current psp but the 4gig will. In order for the 8 gig MS to work you are going to have to upgrade to a new firmware version when sony releases it to make the PSP compatible with the 8 gig MS. I wouldnot buy the 8 gig stick myself bc i know after the upgrade of firmware i wouldnot be able to use any homebrew. So that is something to consider. Is a 8 gig stick worth loosing the ability to play homebrew, iso games, etc.... Not to me. The 1 gig and 2 sticks prices will drop and be more affordable so i would probably get a 4,2,1 gig stick and leave the 8 gig MS in the boxes. LOL It would be better to buy 2 of the 4 gig MS instead and keep your old firmware. What do you guys think???????
