A lot of people recommend a gig of RAM, but I have 768MB and I have no problems whatsoever. In addition to RAM, make sure you have at least 10-15GB of hard drive space free for ripping. You'll definately need it.

My DVD Arsenal: BenQ DW1650 Drive, Plextor DVDRW PX-740A Drive, Nero 6.6.0.13, AnyDVD 6.1.8.4, CloneDVD2 2.9.1.2, DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, DVDFab HD Decrypter 3.2.1.0, VobBlanker 2.1.3.0, RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0, FixVTS 1.6.0.3

Most folks will recommend a minimum of 512mb of ram. I personally recommend 1gb. With the price of ram going down all the time you might just as well have as much as you can. I have 2gb in my system and get flawless burns.

I backed up 12 DVD's this past weekend without a problem.

I have 512 on my system and everything runs very smooth. However, note that I have no auto updates running, nothing running in the background and I disable antivirus software and screensaver while burning. As stated in a previous post, ram has come down in price so I will be upgrading to 1 gig.

I recommend 1GB of RAM, this should be enough, but the more you have the better.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

As far as cooling goes, I do place a small fan in front of my system anytime that I do a backup. I started doing this after an overheat and MB burnup. The additional air flow really helps to keep it cooler.

Needed? I don't know, but it gives me peace of mind, and is a cheap safety factor.
