Folks, thanks for all the interesting reading. One thing I am confused about, and apologies for the possibly lame question...

As I read it, an ISO file that has been created after transferring the XBox game files across to the PC - is effectively just an "archived" version of the original game which is now burnt to a DVD as an XBox ISO file. Thus it cannot actually be played as such on a modded Xbox. Is this understanding correct ?

If so, is there a way to create a backed up copy of an XBox game (thus preserving the original game DVD from scratches etc) onto a 4.7Gig DVD that is playable straight off that DVD on a chip modded XBox ?

thanks in advance.

there are plenty of methods you can use.
An ISO is an image file. It contains all the folders for the game
within it, and without a special program on your Xbox, the Xbox
will not read the ISO from your HDD, it will read it if you
burn the ISO to a DVD.
ISO is to burn to DVD only.
other way is to get DVD2Xbox, this will copy the disc strait from your Xbox DVD drive to your HDD

another way is to use FTP (flashFXP/SmartFTP/CuteFTP), you can put the disc in your Xbox, FTP it to your PC (it will be a bunch of folders and not an ISO)
the you can FTP that folder back to your Xbox HDD

Since the PC DVD burners can not read Xbox discs it makes it a few extra steps as compared to PS2

Hello steimy,

Thanks for the swift feedback. That all sounds good. Is it possible though to create (burn) a DVD so it is playable in the XBox ?

If so what application would do that and do you happen to know of a link that will describe how to.

thanks in advance
