"XenoGC has commercialized tmbinc's public information pertaining to the location and data ports that are benieth the GameCube's DVD drive and have created a new GameCube modchip. It's basically a "no frills" booting solution and should run around $20. Not much is known about this chip, but I wonder if the Qoob code that was dumped via myself and cheqmate's rumored design have anything to do with this chip (as his design used the same interface and he created the page with tmbinc). The XenoGC consists of only nine parts and a simple board and could most likely be duplicated for around $7.00 each if/when the code is dumped from it. As always look for an ISO-420 Certified Review coming soon!"(http://iso420.pxn-os.com/ngc.htm)

It sits on the board and is soldered in place.

For $7.00, I'd say it's a hell of a deal.

Buy the chip, and dump the data.

^I dont this this mods the bios, just lets you read dvd-r, it keeps the origional gc bios.

Can you make backups with this chip? I think will get this chip, so is this even easyer to instal then the other mod chips? how hard would it be for a total soldering noob?

Aparently johnodd4 reports that "newer version's of the gamecube here in the u.s.a don't look like the picture for the installation image on the web page so i cannot use it on my model of gamecube"

take a look at his new thread which he started in a new title when you can clearly see that a nice Xeno thread already exists.

hi guys!

i'm new to modding and all i was wondering if those of you who have installed the xeno gc chip in there NGCs could recommend this chip if let say all you want to do is JUST play backups of your original GC games? i have very very little experience in soldering and i was hoping if this chip could be installed by a beginner like myself. this is basically for my kids coz i had about 2 or 3 games that sometimes freeze and not work any more. also i've read that you need to adjust the pot so that the GC could read backup games is this true for the xeno chip or would a good media do the trick?

also i read in the thread that boki provided that it had problems with certain US NGCs i have the platinum edition bought it a year ago will i have problems installing it in that type of unit?

tia.

^thanks 4 the review.

Can you use this and the viper gc extream instaled at the same time? cause i may get the xeno for a temporary solution but i probably dont need/dont know how to remove it.

And aslong as its aligned properly theres not much you can screw up right?, cause im a total noob to soldering and dont wana screw my gamecube.

johnodd4 said that it was easy to install, but certain boards required more solder than others to install it. Considering it sits right on the circuit board, it should be pretty easy.

As for multiple chips, I don't recommend running more than one at a time since it would mostly likely cause issues. If you want a Viper GC Extreme, don't bother installing other chips first. Also, the XenoGC chip seems to work well on it's own, so if you want a budget solution get that and don't bother with anything else.

Well the thing is that with the viper extreame you can do backups with usb but 4 the xeno you need a bba which il have to buy so it kinda makes the chips cost the same overal. so i guess u can say i have my own reasons to want both.

The Viper GC Extreme can make back-ups using both USB and BBA. Don't even bother with the Xeno if you want USB ripping.

I finally got my chip and soldered it in last night. Does anyone know what the deal is with the red and green LEDs? And is there a tutorial anywhere on how to make a bootable disk with a ripping tool? I've tried to boot a disk with GCos on it, but I'm not sure if I have bad media (or I'm just doing something wrong).. Thanks in advance!
