PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language -- so what you have is a script file to play the movie/clip !

How big is it ? that should give you a clue -- you can read those file with notepad , in it you may find the link to that movie/clip !

Yep, just whatever it is really, but with a php extension, same as when you use a php script to generate a jpg or whatever. Windows Media Player, etc. should still play it as long as you have the correct filters installed and something like Media Info should be able to identify it. Note pad should also open it, might just take awhile, there may or may not be something easily recognisable in the header though.

Hey, can you explain to me how you managed to download the video file from youtube. I would like to know how to do the same and if I can get the file, I can try playing with it also.

I also noticed, you say you wanted to know how to do the same with google video, did you manage to download a video file from google as well? I recall seeing someone mentioned converting a video from google, that only played in vlc player, to something more common as .wmv I will try to look that up.

Hey matt, I looked into the greasemonkey extension for FireFox and installed some user created scripts. It downloads the files perfectly. They are .flv files that can be played in vlc player. In order to convert these into a more common video format, you can use a program called CinemaForge. It can convert into any of the following formats you like, .AVI, .mpg, .wmv, .mov or .rm. I haven't been able to get my hands on the full version of this program, but I tested it out with the trial version from download.com and it worked. There is some quality loss of course. I'm sure there are other programs that can convert .flv into more common formats, just need to search for more. I hope that helps though.
