Ok Im just after buying the flip tool and 2 bags came with it, one said v4-v8 on it and two little parts came in it, the other bad said v9-v10 and 2 different parts came in it. My ps2 is v8 model.
The instructions that came with it were amazingly useless and didn't even bother telling me how to assemble the tool but luckily I found some great instruction son this site :)
Does anybody know what these 2 little parts do? Thanks so much!

When I put the new ps2 lid on and put a game in it loads but makes a very loud scratching noise as the disk spins. Any ideas on how to fix this or why it is happening? Thanks

You didn't order magic switch or magic keys with it did you? If not, what do the tools look like?

Nope just the flip lid and disks. Its hard to describe wat they look like coz they dnt resemble anything. The big part kinda looks like the eject/reset part but its not.
I dnt have any backup games at the moment but I tried putting the swap magic disk in, open the lid and took out the disk and replaced it with an original ps2 disk and it says "this is not a valid ps2 disk" should it do this? thanks for your help

The "Not a valid PS2 disc" is a whole different subject. What brand of DVD's are you using (ie Sony 8X DVD-R)? What speed are you burning at and with what program?

Hey again, Im using a real (original) disk just to check if everything was working but it gives the "Not a valid ps2 disk" error. Does it just do this with original disks or will it do the same with a backup copy? Thanks

Sorry, misread your post!
If you're getting that with an original, it means one of two things. You either need to clean the laser or the laser has went out on you, and then you'd have to replace it.
Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. After that, try playing an original. If you still get the "Not valid" screen, you could also try adjusting your laser. This link should help with that: http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars

Thanks again, sorry I forgot to mention it only says "Not a valid disk" when Im using the swap magic disk. If I boot normally without swap magic it reads the disk fine and plays it but when I get to the main screen on Swap Magic and switch disks and press X it just loads for a bit and gives the error (with the original disk not backup)I havn't tried a backup disk yet. any idea why this is?
