It sounds like you used DVDdecrypter in file mode instead of ISO read mode????

If you're looking for a program like dvdshrink you can try using shrinkto5 located at shrinkto5.com. The program is easy to use, but it doesn't come with DeCSS(copy protection remover). You'll have to download the "machinist.dll" which contains major DeCSS implementations, so you can enable ShrinkTo5 to decrypt CSS. Download the DLL and put it in the same folder as the ShrinkTo5.exe file, the wesite contains direction to follow.

"goto riphelp.com/downloads/shrinkto5.html to get the machinist.dll"

You can also use shrinkto5 with anydvd or dvd43 running in the backround allowing you to decrypt the movie. Shrinkto5 outputs the files (.vob, .ifo, etc..) to a VIDEO_TS folder, it sounds like you like using ISO images to burn so get Folder2ISO(at afterdawn.com) and convert your files to a ISO image for burning.

@specops70

You are getting those errors with DVD Shrink because it is no longer being updated and can no longer handle the encryptions on newer movies. Try DVD43 (free) or AnyDVD (21 day free trial), they run in the background stripping the copy protection while DVD Shrink compressed the movie. If you decide to go this route, choose only one of the above mentioned programs, as they do not play well together.

It gave me the error again when i tried to open the file with shrink. should i start all over again ....meaning start with decryptor and then shrink while 43 runs on the bottom right corner??

Start DVD43 and you will get a little yellow face on the bottom right corner.
Insert your movie disc in the drive. DVD43 will turn to a Devil Face and then to a solid Green face.
At this point start DVDShrink, proceed as normal and tell Shrink to Burn the file using DVDDecrtpter.

That should be it. It will tell you when to insert a blank disc.

There is an excellent guide in my signature block for using decrypter and shrink. When followed step by step you will not have any problems. Just run the encryption software in the background and go to town.

Cheers.

I had AnyDVD running in the background...then I used dvddecryptor and then shrink and burned with Nero. But i had to re author it to just the "main movie" no extras and bam!!!! It worked. I did it for cry wolf, great raid, and the brothers grimm cuz they were all giving me errors or that it ran out of memory. So try it.

i had no problems backing up emily rose, serenity, and four brothers without AnyDVD. Just the above mentioned ones.

@Specops70

For "The Brothers Grimm".

Yep, below is the method I used (for all RipGuard protections) and I can confirmed that it works 100%.

**NOTE: this is for those that have tried AnyDVD, DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD43 or other methods, and it has failed only.

Here's the method I used and it works 100%, yes... you hear me, a full disc GUARANTEE to work. If you do as follow, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too.

I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then use VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.

For those that can not backup "The Brothers Grimm". I don't know, but I'm guessing there's some sort of bad sectors or encrypted protection (something very similar to Macrovision's RipGuard).

**Tools need: DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice of preference). Here's what you need to do:

** get free VobBlanker here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2010_exe.zip

**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.

1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.

2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK

3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.

4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.

The method I provided works 100% for any dvd movies that has RipGuard protection. However, to "BLANK" out which "VTS.XX.*.VOB" and "PGCs" may be varied (or to be determined) with different dvds, but that shouldn't be hard. PgcEdit usually tells you which VTS that carried the bad sectors (bad protected sectors or junks) when you ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter.

**NOTE: again, the method I used works beautifully. I've already tested and watched my backup and it plays flawlessly on 2 of my standalone dvd players.

Good luck... and happy burning!!!!

Just my thoughts:
I ?ve never been too bright but, you usually don?t have to hit me in the face with a wet mop to get my attention..
Have seen numerous threads started on the new Movies that ?can?t be copied? and, so far, haven?t had any trouble with any of them?.period
I have copied ALL with AnyDVD/Shrink/Nero or DVD43/Shrink/Nero, but what I?m doing is coping the Movie Only and that just might be the key?.. MOVIE ONLY.

If you have trouble with a New Movie, try Movie Only or if you want it All give Alkohol?s method a try??

And like Specops70 said:

Happy, Happy?.. Grin, Grin

I have not had an issue with any movie either. Make sure you learn a process and stick with it. With the proper tools you can get them done.

I have backed up all of the movies recently mentioned (Released on 12/20/05) Using just DVD43 & Nero Recode2. I suggest that any and all try this method. As simple as it sounds it worked "Great" without a hitch. There are a few movies out there with some real "tuff shit" encryption, I hope this type does not spread. I don't know the actual name and it's not really new but the encryption transfers to the copy where the encryption is no longer recognized by decryption software. (See recent DVD release "CONVICTED"). I was only able to back this movie up in ISO format which was not consistent. Because of this type of encryption I believe many of us will soon master VOB BLANKER for back ups in the near future. "We're gonna need it!"
