I get to the 2nd file in DVD Decrypter and it just stops. I don't know how to do the PSL2 file thing. I pretty new at this stuff so everytime someone shows me how to do it, all the jargon is just confusing to me.

I am guessing it has the new protection on it so all you have to do is download DVDFabDecrypter I dont know the home page offhand but it is updated and includes the new arcos protection

I downloaded DVDFabDecrypter. Worked like a charm on ripping the disc but now when i try to shrink and burn or run nero recode, it shows an out of memory error. Both programs showed the same error. Shrink did it twice with the same error and recode burned up to 34.5% twice with same error. I saved the log file from recode if it may help. Any ideas?

kyblues,
Go to the thread below and then look for alkohol's comments. He is telling you step by step how to do it.

Yep, that is the method I used (for all RipGuard protections) and I can confirmed that it works 100%.

**NOTE: this is for those that have tried AnyDVD, DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD43 or other methods, and it has failed only.

Here's the method I used and it works 100%, yes... you hear me, a full disc GUARANTEE to work. If you do as follow, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too.

I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then use VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.

For those that can not backup "The Brothers Grimm". I don't know, but I'm guessing there's some sort of bad sectors or encrypted protection (something very similar to Macrovision's RipGuard).

**Tools need: DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice of preference). Here's what you need to do:

** get free VobBlanker here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2010_exe.zip

**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.

1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.

2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK

3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.

4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.

The method I provided works 100% for any dvd movies that has RipGuard protection. However, to "BLANK" out which "VTS.XX.*.VOB" and "PGCs" may be varied (or to be determined) with different dvds, but that shouldn't be hard. PgcEdit usually tells you which VTS that carried the bad sectors (bad protected sectors or junks) when you ripped the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter.

**NOTE: again, the method I used works beautifully. I've already tested and watched my backup and it plays flawlessly on 2 of my standalone dvd players.

Good luck... and happy burning!!!! Like ddp said; "teach and learn."

I used dvd fab, and then with shrink in re-author mode with main movie only. I had the same message if I backup the entire film with all menus and extras.

@Car.Mike

You're welcome, you're welcome and thank you. Hehehe...LOL, good idea. My next mini guide I'll make sure to mention that on the very first step, hehehe. Like, before ripping the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F -- I'll simply put: "make sure you sip/drink at least 5 shots of Hennessey or XO, then rip the movie."

I can't believe some newbies (members) are still having mad trouble following the mini guide. Some even got pissed because they probably did something wrong along the way, but hey, if they can't follow them 3 or 4 easy steps, then that's too bad, LOL. I'm not gonna babysit anybody here, especially at AfterDawn. The truth is.... if they can read, write and use a computer, then it should be fine if followed the steps wisely, or either they're high on crack, LOL.

I'm here to help those that has no clue(s) and or likes freebie softwares (like you and I, hehehe).

Cheers now!!

Great Stuff Alkohol,
But Just remember:
There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

Also in my Sig LOL

@2oldGeek

Hahaha... LOL, I like that little quote on your sig. So which kind are we (you and I)? I think we're the fourth kind, the kind that tells other people to jump and they end up jumping, right? hehehe LOL.

Not much info to go on there, lovecars.
Try backing up using DVDShrink, Movie Only/ with AnyDVD or DVD43 running in the background and burn with Nero or tell Shrink to burn with DVDDecrypter.

You need to customize the size when using DVD Shrink, in prior to the shrinking process. Remember, you need to take out other "foreign audio & subtitles" so it'll fit onto 4400MB. It should be fine once DVD Shrink is completed. With 4400MB or similar, there shouldn't be any issues when burning with DVD Decrypter or Nero. **NOTE: you need to perform "Deep Analysis" and "Compress with High Quality" to enhance on the quality in results (this will take longer, but worth it).
