Can you put a Computer Dvd-rom/Cd-rom in a ps2

I know you can put a Dvd Rom/Cd rom in a xbox and i also read you can do it for the ps2 also by using the network adapter.
but i cant find it any more so i was wandering if anyone can help me.

Ive never heard of anyone actually doin this before. Yes you could connect a IDE drive into the network adaptor but the ps2 wouldnt notice it in any way, and i havent heard of any programs for ps2 that change this. A IDE HDD on the other hand can be connected and used for game/music/gamesaves and anything else, using the right software.

Is there any thing to make a ps2 play better because mine turns on but it does not read games i took it apart and cleaned the eye and it still comes up as a data error
