Hi everyone!

I'm a newbie and, as such, have a newbie question:

Is the silver thermal lacquer layer on silver thermal lacquer DVD's a substantially thick layer?

I guess the context is that I want to purchase these at SuperMediaStore:

http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-dvd-...

and I want to be able to print out full face DVD labels and stick them on the disc. I've never seen one, so I don't know if that would be a problem. I'm worried that if the silver thermal lacquer is substantially thick, then placing a label on top of it would be tantamount to putting two labels on and possibly making the disc too thick, top-heavy, prone to wobbling, or any other problem I haven't thought of.

Thank you all for any information you could provide.

I've encountered many posts of members having playback issues and it all came down to those so called sticker labels. Standalone players can have difficulty-gives you poor playback. The stickers can also peel up/build up heat/and wobble if not correctly centered.

Those are the shiny/thermal printable discs. I'm not sure how sticker labels would adhere to them and last.

If you want a safer alternative to disc labels, check on the epson r-200/r-22-/r-300/r-320/or r-340 stylus photojet printers. Staples have an excellent buy on the R-320 for $130 after rebate this week. The r-200/r-220 runs from $70-$99.
These will print your disc covers directly on the disc itself, using a special tray and template. There's all kind of printable media out there,I use full hub white inkjet printables, but wanting to find some full shiny-inkjet printables. There's all kinds of sites out there for album covers/disc covers/and even very cheap-quality ink.

I'm currently using those disc's with labels and they are fine, no problem with adhesion or any thickness issue.

If you get any playback issues at all: Freezing/skipping/pixellation, first thing to check for is those sticker labeled discs.

Some members use them quite extensively. They do use the proper tools and templates so they can center them to the exact center.Even the quality of the paper label itself can make a big difference.

Thank you for all your usefull answers! It's good to hear that I can label them (if I do it properly) without any issues.

I can see why everyone comes here to get answers from the experts :) Hopefully I can get educated and contribute to this community in the future.
