http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vcd_to_dvd-r.cfm

I tried this tutorial and found that when i demuxed the audio and video from the dat file. My authoring tool said that the audio file was not at 48000, so it wouldn't work.

So I found other ways to do it like using DVDlab and SVCD2DVDMPG but it wants me to input other types of files(i.e. mpg, bin, etc). Now I am confused.

Is there a one step method to this madness?

I want to put several vcd's to a dvd.. and sever mpeg's or avi's
to a dvd.

If you read http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr.cfm I think you can understand what you need to do.

First, AVSEQ01.DAT must be converted with movie.mpg, with say, VCDGEar. You can either select cue/bin --> mpeg or dat --> mpeg.

For the AVI --> dvd there are any tutorials on http://www.afterdawn.com/guides .

Thanks for the info aldaco12.

I have just made my first VCD compilation on dvd using Dvd Lab

But there is something that bothers me. The audio and video transition is way off. I'm talking about maybe a 10 second delay on video after audio. Also the screenshot is more centered and cuts off the sides too much. The fps on my original mpg was 25 and it makes it a 29 and some change when it converts it. Is there a way to remedy this problem?

First, if you make a PAL DVD full of PAL mpegs or a NTSC DVD full of NTSC mpegs you shouldn't encounter any problem.

???? this problems usually occur when ou convert an AVI which contain a MP3 VBR audio stream (instead of a MP3 CBR one) into mpeg, or if you rippped an audio from a DVD without taking into account the constant delay between video and audio (which usually is of the order of magnitude of 100 ms , not of 10 s!).

Conclusion: if you are un-sync, that problem should exist also in the input mpegs!

Yes, sometimes the fps change must also affect the audio, or you create an un-sync movie. Usually an encoder takes this into account. But DVD Lab doesn't encode! What did you do, and how?
What 'screenshot' are you talking about?
I'm afraid I won't be able to answer you before Chrismtas....

ok here's a little background on the project.

I have an anime called initial d on vcd's that I want to put onto one dvd. 3 episodes to a disc.

I first copy the dat files to my hard drive. then using vcdgear, i convert them using the "dat to mpeg" conversion. I test this mpg's and their fine.

then I open dvd lab. I import the assets. because I did not Demux and all that. It asks me if I want to "demux to elementary streams". I agree and then I "run audio transcode" to convert to 48k and "enable 2:3 pulldown" to change the fps from 24 to 29.97. Then I add these two new files to the movie. create the menu. compile. burn.

I'm trying to make a NTSC. correct me if i'm wrong but i'm in the U.S. and I heard that NTSC is the way to go. I only know that you change NTSC to PAL and vice versa in the project properties in Dvdlab. Are you suppose to change it in vcdgear because I don't think you can.

I have just counted the actual seconds and it seem like 5 min into the dvd. the audio was lagging about 30 seconds. And right now, I'm only going from dat to mpeg to dvd(vob's?). There aren't any avi's involved.
