Just a tip, doing S/VCD's with Nero results in horrible quality, use TMPEGenc(download from this site) to encode S/VCD's then use Nero only to burn them; the quality then will be much better than if you only used Nero.
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

Here is the best program and encoder to do dvd2svcd backups. SmartRipper is a dvd ripper (rips ifo and vob files of the dvd to your hard drive). TMPEng is the encoder that encodes the movie. The best at present is CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder) but only a 30 day trial download. So get your feet wet and follow the guide and do you first dvd2svcd m8! I'll provide all the links for all your needs.

Let me put it this way, I would MUCH rather watch a vhs tape than watch a VCD. SVCD is far more better video quality as long as you use either CCE, TMPEng, or Canopus ProCoder encoders.

Just a question, I have CCE installed, yet don't see it in available plugins with tmpgenc, is it possible or am I on the wrong track?

If your converting to SVCD, then you need DVD2SVCD 1.1.2 installed. You have the option to use TMPGen encoder, but CCE is the faster encoder and produces amazing video quality.
