I'm based in the UK,
I use the store - http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk

I'm looking for DVD-R .... my drive can use DVD+R but I read somewhere DVD-R was more reliable?

I also wanted some DVD+R DL's too.....

What brand for A-grade media? Should I even be looking at brands or code (Format 0E Pre-recorded Information in Lead-in)

Something thats going to last years! but not cost a bomb.

Don't know about grade A, but stateside we recommend Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell (MIJ).

They will last for years.

i would also suggest that if your drive is capable to booktype, use +r to booktype to -rom, which is pretty much 100% compatable with all types of players
