Small boot sector, will not play on dvd

I have just got a new laptop with dual layer writer.
When I burn using nero 7 I get a very small looking boot sector, this will then not play on my dvd player. The same files using the same programme on my pc with all the same settings burns a "Normal Sized boot sector" and plays fine.
My PC will recognize the Laptop burnt dvd and plays it properly. The strange thing is I have burnt normal sized boot sector dvds on the Laptop the first day I got it, and they played fine. Have I switched sometging off somewehere. any ideas at all. Noe spent 6hrs and 17 dvds later still same problem.
I am a total virgin to this so if someone could help it would be great
