hi if i put a 5v dc fan and hook it up to the 12v dc fan on the motherboard will it over time blow up or something it runs fine right now but will it short out and cause something bad please help

I think the stock fan is running at about 7v (the exhaust fan in the rear),and if you need to power a 5v fan...there are a few places that will supply 5v of power. eg...the controller port (red=5v).
