I looked everywhere, yet I still can't find the answer. Anyways, I just bought an widescreen HDTV. When I play Resident Evil 4 on it, there are two black bars on top and bottom of the screen (letterbox). I thought that the widescreen TV would allow the game to play it widescreen, eaning that it will fit all of the screen, not have black bars. I'm also experiencing this with movies as well. I am using S-video cable. Could that be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
never played the ps2 resident evil 4, but you sure its not in the options? an S cable what is that? where you plug into where the cable goes into the back of the tv?
Sup Alucard,
The best picture you can get out of a DVD, PS2, Xbox, and Gamcube and I by sharpness is by getting a component cable the regular AV cables dont give out the true picture you need on your HDTV. If you look behind your tv and it has Component Cable Inputs it should have them, they have 5 colors (Green)(Blue)(Red) and Audio (Red)(White). Now only some games are capable of handling widescreen so far I caught 1 game with widescreen capabilities and I saw it on the back as it said Widescreen Capable 16:9. It was called Socom 3, but no other games that I seen so far are widescreen maybe there's more but I haven't seen them yet. Now for a fact in the future the future consoles like the PS3 the 360 and the revolution will be all dealing with HDTV and widescreen especially PS3 since they have the Blue Ray disc A.K.A High Definition Disc. But to help you out buying the cable I bought my cable from newegg heres a link to the product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16879100014 it was cheap but afffordable and its working great on my Sony Wega TV. Also for best sound I suggest you use a home theatre system the back of the PS2 and the back of your DVD have Optical outputs on the back this will give you the best sound you can get. So for better picture go with the Component Cable and for better sound go with the Optical Cable. Your Tv is capable of doing many things man take full advantage of it. As for playing Resident Evil 4 (Crazy game by the way) check in the options menu and see if it says Widescreen. Note dont do widescreen on AV cables they dont deliver a great picture. Hope I helped if anything post back and I'll answer as soon as possible. DVD7227-OUT
I see, thanks all for the response guys. I will take your hints and see if my TV can display the widescreen (it should since I have the HDTV AND RE4 says that it display that as well. Anyways, thanks a lot! Peace
