As mfrink said, if i was going to preorder the ps3, it would be for resale only. Just like the 360, there will probably be problems with the first batch.

True HDTV will become the standard in the near future...but current televisions will work as well so you do not have to buy one.
Also, the PS3 supports 480i and 480p...not HD.

for those of you who are interested im taking this info. from the PSM mag. Feb06 issue. it states in the article that 99% of games in development for ps3 are actually going to run at 720p resolution. if your wondering why, presently you could have better looking pixels or more pixels (higher resolution). a higher resolution would result in slower but sharper games while the 720 would make games fast and beautiful...or so they claim. either way take this info how you like, i personally find this magazine to be pretty reliable, again this info came from the feb06 (pg 8) PSM magazine.

PSM SUCKS. It's over 100 pages of advertisements. You can see the same shit on gamestop, but with screenshots and videos and ratings (for EVERY game). Seriously that magazine is a waste of time and in no way promotes the games themselves with thier out-of-tune commenting.
DON'T BUY PSM!!! (if you happen to get it for free somehow, they're cool to leave lying around in case people want to browse them [mostly people that know nothing about games, but hey, they can't help it])
