hi im a big newbie and trying to rip anime from dvd to avi (i just prefer avi over having to insert a disc all the time). anyway, im using winavi video converter and it rips ok except i dont know how to rip the japanese audio with subs. it just rips the default english without subs. how can i change that?

Try dvd ripper platinum following this guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272081
I ripped dvd to DivX AVI successfully. It supports selecting audio and subtitle you'd like to rip.
