hard drive direct boot?

is there a way to boot hdadvance or hdloader from the hard drive directly when turning on your ps2 just like the xbox? The reason for this is I'm planning to buy a ps2 but I don't want to wear out the lenses.

Not unless you have a dms modchip with toxic os installed. Plus, if your going to buy a new ps2, you would need to use an external hd and usbextreme (which might not work that way).
