Hi, is there any major problems with the DMS4 and a v7 PS2? I know u need laser protection for v12 but how about with v7? Anyone ever successfully installed a DMS4 in a v7? Thanks

i'd venture to guess there are likely thousands of V7's with DMS chips installed and working perfectly.

I've got a magic 3.0 a magic 3.1 and a DMS4 pro SE
I've been modding ps2's sense the version 1s and we didn't have the DMS4 chips back in the days, depending on what a customer is wanting from the chip i make suggestions based on that either to help them decide what is best for Them or most practical. if you do not plan to play dual layer backups or run elf's then there are several chips that are half the price of the DMS4 but the DMS4 is a do all chip with a near perfect sync timing that boots 99.9999999% of the time with a single try, other chips can take 2 or 3 tries to boot.

Well I already ordered the DMS4 lite when I started this forum so I guess there's no turning back now. Wow you've been moding ps2's since version 1s, I don't even think I could find a v1 ps2 now even if I go to every game and pawn store in town. You must have lot's of experience. Thanks for the replys now I'm more sure that the DMS4 is the rite chip. The only other chips I was considering was the Matrix Infinity (boot the game and then turning off sounds like it could be used online if we patch the game) or the Duo 2 GT w/ blue LEDs(since it's just $20 I could have gotten two of them)

the Lite will be a great chip, the only reason i'd have suggested (as well as use) the Pro is for the extra memory for storing .elf's
if you arent using 'homebrew' programs the lite is all you'll ever need, and your a step ahead of the matrix chip and a few miles ahead of the others.

Hey sealboyz,
If you need any help, post here too so that others who have questions post it here too so sometimes people who search and see this could find answers too.
Also I'm gonna install a dms4 for the first time, well I recommend u should practice if ur a noob at this. I used an old ATI Rage card from an old computer and i practiced my soldering on that before I'm gonna do i for real. Also this kinda sucks consolesource has my order on "backordered" even though its been in the "processed ready to ship" status for over a week. and I paid for 3-5 days shipping, even though its gonna be like a month before it will arrive.
