It's possible for ps2 to run Linux. But i've never tried it myself. So i dont know how it works. But now, since ps3 is such a powerfull console.(Currently more powerfull than the computer) Do you think that its a good idea for ps3 to come with linux Preinstalled?
Lets have some comments.

Well, i've gathered some reasons why it is and isnt a good idea for ps3 to have linux.
Pros....
-PS3 cell processor runs faster than current PC's out there.
-Can increase the populatarty of linux in north america
-Nice warm hacks, ability to play 360 games on ps3 through emulation through linux. Same with revolution.
-Nice feature
CONS
-its a gaming consol.
-You can get viruses, destroying your ps3.
-pc's will soon run faster than the ps3.

For all I know, Linux will only come preinstalled in the HDD and the HDD will be sold as an add on. This means that whoever wants Linux and its benefits will have the option to pay for it. Mainstream gamers can have a more traditional game console, without linux and HDD.

I believe that a preinstalled Linux for PS3 is a good option. Probably the better option will be to have the installation pack DVDs included, so anyone who wants linux would be able to install it theirself.
===========
I'll be a step off-topic, but I'm trying to install the Linux on my PS2. The only problem is that I have USB-HDD but not the IDE, because my PStwo is the slim model.
Does any one know if it is possible to instal PS2 Linux on a USB-HDD?

Actually I think it's the best freaking idea ever. For one thing Linux is very stable and virus free. Next to no crashes or glitches at all. For another Linux is open source so it's free i.e. Sony is getting a great OS for free or very cheap. And lastly if they don't run Linux they have to use a Microsoft OS so by doing this they're basically saying "Screw you Microsoft!! I got a much better OS and I'm never giving you money again!!"
