I got a v7 ps2 and i got a lot of booting problems lately. Originals work fine , and even a few backups work without real problems but most backups just wont boot correctly. I usually have to try like 20 times before it finally boots. And even when it boots the game sometimes lags during videos or similar stuff and i hear like jumping noises. When i tried to adjust the angle of the laser i noticed that each time it jumps a few times , the cd totally stops spinning for a moment. I dont want to waste 50 ? on a new laser when im not really sure thats gonna help so i just wanted to know if there are some other known reasons to this and if theres any other way to try to fix it.

sounds like you used poor quality media to do the backups on. low quality media will often not boot at all even when new and the few that do will only last about a year then they refuse to boot. if your not using a premium quality media (actually the ink on them) you should. and even then they only last 10 yrs or so.

Actually Im using TDK wich i think is a rather good medium oO Ive been using the same mediums for years and they always worked fine till now.
