Most of the DVD's I've copied have errors in them. On my dvd player, they skip (completely jump from a few seconds to sometimes even a couple of minutes). On my computer it freezes the computer at that point. I used nero recode, then I switched to dvdFAB platinum, and finally I used DVD shrink. The same thing kept happening. I've started using autoGK to convert to xvid. I always set the target quality to 100% and my avi's come out between 1.5 and 2 gb. What I want to know is will my xvid movies look as good on my sdtv through a component cable as my shrunken (4.7gb) dvds? Or should I try burning shrunken dvd's again and just enable like double pass or any of that stuff to improve the conversion? Thanks for the replies.

It could be that the media you use or the burner you use could cause problems when you burn an .iso or whatever to a DVD-R (which is really just 4.36GB). XviD would be a good alternative if it were to be that size, the look should be just as good as the original DVD. Try and check if you have a crap-quality DVD burner or DVD's like Memorex or some no-name brand.

If Im online, Im usually on Steam:

You should Burn all of your Movie DVD"s at the Lowest speed Possible (2.4X??) all the Time if you want to be assured of a Perfect error free Burn that plays From beginning to end without problems.....

I use Pretty Cheap Media but I burn them at 2x speed and 99% of them Playback perfectly but even the Ones I burn at 4X on Good Media will sometimes Get Pixeletion or freezeing on my DVD Player.....
