Got a question? I bought fuji's d/l made in taiwan that coded as ritek. I got a very bad test result right after the layer break. Any ideas? Bad burner maybe? I even burned verbatims with my litey 1693s burner and I have artifacts in the movie?

i personally use the newest KSOB firmware for my Liteon 1693S, it works very well for the newer DL media...
i have the Ritek Ridata DVD+R DLs with the same media ID coding, however, mine have all been successful...might be a faulty batch of fuji's u got OR the same quality is not found across the board with ALL RitekD01 discs~ :)
this is the firmware i use currently: http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd%20...
might be ur burner too~ so many possibilities...

Well guess Im gonna rma the burner. Cause I was getting green blotches on a verbatim disc that i burned. So maybe I will go buy a sata plextor. Oh does it matter if ya have a hard drive set to slave and the burner set to master on the same ide cable?:>

@teflonmyk
not a HUGE difference, i use my 1693S on my 2nd computer, it's not my primary burner, so, i don't use it as frequently...but i've noticed it DID improve the write strategies for the DVD+R DL media...it's more consistent now, at least mine is... :)
good luck
