does anyone know if a v7 motherboard will fit ok into a v5/v7 ps2

the motherboard will fit the case, but the other components that build up to make a functional PS2 are not all compatible between V5s and V7s.

If the lasers are different types, you can run lenschanger to adjust the EEPROM, but I'm not sure of a way to run it unless you have a modchip installed or a functional laser in the first place.
