vcd playback screen view aspect problem

I made a vcd and tried playing it on my dvd play and watch it on tv but the screen aspect is not the letter box size as the original divx is. It is stretched out on the tv screen and all the characters are vertically long. Is it possible to fix this? I tried it on my dvd player but it is the same.

What software did you use to make your VCD. I think there may be settings you have to make in some encoding software packages for widescreen formats. Also, is there a specific guide you followed?

I use nero to burn the vcd.

Check out the guides in the articles section http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/ . The software isn't free but it does seem to work much better than Nero.

Thanks Twilite. I did get the TMPGEnc and used it to convert the movie to mpg and burned it with nero. Now, I have no sound at all. In the setting of TMPGEnc, the sound should also have been encoded from the avi file but I only got the video. I can I fix this problem? Thanks again.

I don't do VCD's myself so I'm not sure where the problem may lie but you may want to post a question over to the VCD/SVCD forum.
