hey guys..i'm quite a noob at this as I just received my PSP v1.52 for X'mas..anyway I have downgraded it to v1.5 and I was told by the shop that sells legal psp games that most games cannot be played on v1.5..is that true??..and he said that all future psp games cannot be played on anything lower at v2.0...true?...thanks in advance for the help..

Yup! It's true!

Games like GTA and ALL future games are not playable on anything below 2.0 and probably below 2.5 in the near future.

It means you have to upgrade to play games and then downgrade to play homebrew/iso!

It sucks!

BTW did you have any trouble downgrading i have a 2.0 and i'm too scared to do it!

Theres quite a lot of legal games that do work, 30+, the older releases mainly. Most new releases require 2.0+ to play, and yea as steve said a lot of future games will most probably need 2.5 to play.

ive downgraded mine to play the iso's ive got, prefer having 27 games to play rather than 1 ;) (GTA) Plus its damn easy to upgrade/downgrade again to do what i fancy at the time.

In my opinion it wont be that long till they crack 2.0 properly and emulators are produced.

downgrading from v2 to 1.5 is ez...its upgrading from v1.52 to v2.0 then downgrading to v1.5 that is difficult...no problem with downgrading if that is what you asked..though your computer will inform you that it is a bug before you transfer the data to the psp..

the problem is nobody knows for sure...even the shop owners!!...which game is compatible to which firmware..meaning those that buys games will have to buy without knowing whether its playable??

Guys, going from 1.52 to 2.0 couldn't be easier, grab the 2.0 update and update, then use mph's downgrader and follow the guide here: http://www.psp-hacks.com it's mad easy, don't be afraid grasshopper 8^D lolz.

on the topic of 2.0 fw dependant games, they're the ones that don't work with homebrew (100% anyway, some not at all) becasue nobody has been able to get 2.0 to run any decent homebrew suchs as loaders etc. hope that clears that up for you, tho it was mentioned in the posts above your question.
