Hello,
I'm new to DVD Ripping and have just recently tried the trial version demo of Instant Copy version 7.0.0.91 that I downloaded from http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/
I like this program and have ordered the registered version from googlegear.com and should receive it by Wednesday.
My question is will the IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip work on this latest version? I want to be able to be given the option of not copying parts of the DVD and giving more room to the main movie files and the impression I get from reading posts is that this reg hack only works with older versions of this program.
Also, I have read about this program not using all the space on the DVD and was wondering about what can be done about this. It seems that some have been able to use some king of "Overburn" or forcing the program to work at a higher setting. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm not too familiar with Pinnacle InstantCopy V7.0.0.91. but like you, downloaded the trial version and experimented. If I owned a dvd burner then I would take full advantage and read the image of the dvd, then burn or go "on the fly". Should you wan't just the movie, then you would have to use a dvd ripper (SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter).I don't know if IC7_MovieOnly_zip will work on the latest version. The program won't use any hd space at all if you choose "on the fly" copy. So in short, if you own a dvd burner I wouldn't have bought this program. I would have went with a combo of DVD2One& DVDXCopy.

Hello Shoey,
Thanks for responding, but maybe you don't understand my post and/or the Instant Copy program.
To start, I DO own a burner, otherwise, why would I even bother with this program or the reason for my post? I just bought and installed a Sony DRU500AX and so far am extremely happy with this burner.
As you know, before you can attempt to burn a DVD, it goes without saying that you have to use a ripper to decrypt the files to the hard drive which I've done using DVD Decrypter.
The whole purpose of the Instant Copy program is to make a copy to a DVD and/or CD. I have used the demo version to make a copy to DVD+RW media and it works great, but since this is a demo and has a time limit along with not being able to make VCD's and SVCD's, I wanted the full version. I do have DVD Xcopy, but it requires two DVD's to make a copy. From reading the info at the location I downloaded the demo, www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/, in order to use Instant Copy to give the main movie files the absolute best quality, using this reg hack file, you can make the program NOT copy all the files. Also, it appears that this program leaves some unused space on the DVD and that's the reason for some people forcing the program to "overburn" to use ALL the available space.
As I also said, I'm new to DVD burning so I don't want to give the impression that I know it all as I know I don't.
I just want to make a copy of a DVD using only one DVD disk and making it the best copy I can. Since I don't plan to look at the extra crap that most DVD's contain, but do want the option to include it that the DVD2ONE program currently doesn't offer, this program looks like the best bet along with the fact that with the $20 rebate that is currently offered, this program will only cost $24.
So, with all this said, does anyone know if the IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip will work with the latest version of Instant Copy which appears to be 7.0.1.114?
Thanks in Advance

You can use Pinnacle Instant Write for other burning purposes. I'm also aware you can read the whole image of a dvd, then burn as long as the dvd isn't over 4.7 gigabyte(Alcohol 120%). I visit 3 forums a day and the most recommended programs to backup a dvd to a dvd-r(w) are DVD2One, DVD95Copy, DVDXCopy, and tools for DVD2One like IFOEdit, MakeItEasy, and VobEdit. Other software that people use Prassi and Gear Pro.

I am fairly sure that the reg hack will work with 7.01.xxx if it does not, it will eventually be updated becuase it seems to be quite popular and was probably not very difficult to write. Don't worry. Good luck with the program when you get.
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

Hello dpeel - I am using 7.01 with the registry hack and it works great. On the other hand, I just noticed that I'm getting only about 3.6GB/disc despite the fact that IC says I will get 4.3. Someone mentioned overburning. How do I do that???
