Hi,

I have just bought an iPod video for Xmas. I have successfully put music and videos on it without a problem. Everything was going smooth, I watched videos on my iPod for 3 hours wit only losing a minimal bit of the battery life meter. However, I recently recharged it when the battery was empty i started to watch another dvd, however i only got 40 minutes out of the battery and it dies. I recharge again until it says it is completely charged and i get the same amount of viewing time. Does anyone know if this is a fault with my iPod personally or is it a mass problem.

Also on the first day of having it my ipod completely froze until the battery ran out, could this have "killed" my battery

thanks
dylan

p.s if anyone is having problems adding videos like i was simply connect your ipod to your pc, go to itunes, edit, preferences, than go to videos and tick the box that says automatically download videos.

Did you try resetting it? ~

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step

If you are only getting 40 mins of video, I would recommend sending it back for a replacement because the battery is probably faulty.

^did you read my post above?^

If your iPod power is only lasting 40 minutes, it is a duff battery. There is no 'quick fix' as such.

Ah, I'd say definetely a duff battery mate. Send it back either for a replacement battery or a replacement iPod.

ok ill look into that, but my cousin just said its because i have not charged it long enough. He works with phones and he says its the same. What i should do apparently is put it on charge all night, because i never charged it on purchase :/

Well you should really charge any electrical item that is battery powered for 24 hours upon purchase..

You can try charging it all night, but it will make no difference.

If you have already charged it until it is full and only got 40 mins, than continuing to charge it after it's full is pretty futile.

ye the thing he said though is it says it is full but it is not completely full, apparently this happens on phones..the bar says it is full but the actual battery is not. I'll just exchange it for being defaulty

cheers

OK. If and when you get it replaced, make sure you charge it for 24 hours as soon as you get it.

Also, do you charge it 'till it says battery full?

Ok, so I reckon what your mate tells you about it is rubbish. The battery is inefficient and you have every right to demand a refund =)

If you got it from a local shop, it is best to go there. But they may ask you to contact Apple direct.

When I took back an iPod that had a faulty HDD, they replaced it no questions asked. So it really just depends on which store you take it back to.

Either way, you are entitled to a replacement, as it is a technical fault. Let me know how you get on :)
