I just bought a DVD Burner and i have tried the dvd shrink program in hopes of ripping it onto my computer. I dont even want to burn a dvd yet i just want to see how it looks when it plays on my computer. THere are lke 7 unrecognizable files and i dont know how to play them. Also...i need to decrypt the DVD as well but i dont understand how u use the decrypter software and the shrink software at the same time since one shrinks and doesnt decrpt and the other decrypts but doesnt shrink. I need it shrinked and decrypted. PLease help me haha (also my next question would be i want to put this on my Ipod Video....i knwo it needs to be a different format, does anyone know anything about this?

jubes00,

DVDShrink is a Ripper/Decrypter/Shrinker just not updated for the new encryptions.
DVDDecrypter is a Ripper/Decrypter/Burner also not updater for the new stuff.
Both are still kicking and used by a lot of ppl here on AD.

AnyDVD is a Decrypter that runs in the background allowing Shrink and Decrypter to do their thing.. Updated often but not Free, has a 21 day trial period then must buy.. but worth it IMHO

DVD43 is a free Decrypter also runs in the background like AnyDVD but not updated as often.
DVDFabDecrypter is free and much like DVDDecrypter except has no Burn engine.

Read over this link to get a handle on the situation. That is, Guides, Software Downloads and FAQ?s about the DVD backup situation?.

LOL

You'll need a software player to play the ripped files. Most prefer an iso file rather than a folder of video files to play. Use DVD Decrypter (free) in Mode -> ISO Read to create an iso image file of the disk. You can also mount the iso file as a disk by using some virtual drive software like Daemon Tools (free). Then any player like Windows Media Player can play the file since it appears as if a disk in a DVD drive.

For many protected disks, you'll likely need AnyDVD to overcome both region protection, encryption, and structural copy protection

Sorry 2oldGeek, I got interrupted while composing and didn't realize you'd already answered until I posted.

Oh, by the way laddyboy,
Thanks for reminding me about Daemon Tools, I very seldom use it because I usually rip in files and just use WinDVD, Power DVD or MSPlayer. Don?t usually keep anything on my puter for very long.
