Will blu ray/HD players be able to read normal DVD's?

Does anone know? Because I have alot of DVD's, and I know that eventually, you won't be able to by a normal DVD player or DVD's, only HD and blu rays, so then my DVD's are worth nothing if I can't watch them, but will the new players be able to read normal DVD's?

Great, but for how long, will they discontinue that ability to read normal DVD's after a while. If that's true, then i'm gonna need to burn all my DVD's to blu rays/HD's

I can't tell you the future but I can be logical. With that said, when did DVD players stop supporting audio CDs, VCDs, and SVCDs? Are DVD-VHS combos hard to find?

blu-ray/hd players wont be cheap but i do agree that the new players would play regular dvds....

What are you asking? If the conditions are right for you then of course it would be a good idea to use BD. Two layer Blu ray discs offers 6x the space of current DVD-9 discs. But if Blu ray looks like its going to flop after a few years then I don't think it would be a good idea.
Like I said I can't see into the future.

Actually every single analyst predicts a pretty close race for one or two years before Bluray wins out.
