Hi all,

I'm new to this but have read a few posts here that are really helpful. Here's my dilemma. I used the ftp thread and was able to ftp to my xbox thru my home PC using a crossover cable. I have an extra hard drive that is 120 gigs. It wasn't empty...it had mp3's, etc on it. I copied some files from the xbox c: to my hard drive and then my hard drive quit functioning. I rebooted the xbox and my pc and ftp'd again...and when i tried to copy the remainder of the files to my PC it said my E: wasn't formatted. I was like uh-oh I musta just fried this thing. Did I miss that somewhere that the hard drive you copy xbox files to had to be empty or formatted with a specific file system? I can't even format it now it won't let me. I have to repair the MBR somehow. I'll work on that tonite. Anyone had a similair experience? I also read that only certain hard drives are ocmpatible. Of course I didn't check the list I just assumed it was. It's a Maxtor 120Gig Drive and now windows tells me it is an Iaxtkr drive. Something got seriously messed up. Any ideas?

Don't think anything could have fried just from copying data from one puter to another unless it was accidently deleted (if so, should be in recycle bin, unless that was cleaned out). The drive that was connected to your PC was just receiving data from the xbox and file system is not important and its most likely just a coincidence that something happened while backing up the console. Compatibility is only an issue when you actually want to install a new HD in the xbox and you want to make sure it is lockable.
