Hello,

I have Sony DAV-SR2 home system and after 4 months I've began to experience some sort of playback problem. I hope I can explain.

I have modified my DVD player to be multi-region. It was Region 2.
Now it can play all regions even the RCE discs.
It was done with some kind of remote control. "The guy" pressed three buttons at the same time (can't remember which three) on the player itself, and then some kind of weird menu appeared. He pressed some combination on his remote control and something red blinked 5 times and the player was multi-regional.
Could someone tell me what exactly did he do?!!

I've been searching for quite some time the answer to that.

Since then I've had some playback problems with certain DVDs.
They would freeze, lose sound, skip. This only started happening
in the second part of the movie (just after that pause in the middle when disc change layer). Never in the begining. These breaks increased as the film progressed to its end.
I've contacted Sony repair shop and they said that the lens is losing focus during reading in second layer. They have changed the lens and it was fine a while and now it's started all over again.

I have aprox. 50 DVDs (all original) in my collection and these breaks only happen when I listen to DTS track on the following titles: DD5.1 is working so far
Shawshank Redemption UK 3-disc
Flash Gordon UK SE
Pitch Black US SE
Wimbledon US SE
Star Wars Trilogy Box Set (disc 2)

Could someone help me?
