I was recently given a used Korean V12 from a friend who had been living there. I just installed a Modbo 2.0 chip and for games, it works well for me. For Christmas, my inlaws got me a brand new V14 with extended warranty because they didn't think I'd be able to get the chip installed in the V12.
I don't want to wreck the extended warranty or possibly damage the new machine so I was thinking about the Slim tool kit & Magic swap disks (and sell the modded V12).
Both the chip and the disks seem to do the same things. I'm not such a huge gamer that taking the time to swap disks is going to bother me much.
I'd like to know peoples prefferences between the kit and a chip, and problems associated with either. (other than hastle of soldering, that was not a fun 3 hours.)

Thanks in advance for any info, input.

I've never dealt with a mod chip...only use Swap Magic. It works perfectly fine as long as you don't mind the swap part of it. The only problem that you run into is that it doesn't support DVD9, so you have to rebuild those games. You also have to rebuild some DVD5 games to get them to work. The other thing is that some require a patch before they are playable, but that is a very easy process.

In short, if you don't want to void your warranty, Swap Magic is your best bet.

Thanks for the info. I ordered online this afternoon. Looks like I'll have a modded v12 for sale soon;)
I only have a couple of Korean games I want to keep and I'll rarely be using backed-up games so swapping games won't bother me. I just want the ability and freedom to use whatever game disc I want.
I should have just bought the Kit for the v12 and saved the headache of soldering in a chip.

I too got the 75001 yesterday and have heard bad stories about it with Swap Magic 3. Please let me know your experience once you try it.

That's not something I wanted to hear.
For now, I don't have many games, only a couple of the Korean ones I want to keep. As far as playing back-ups, I like the idea of running them off a harddrive instead of discs, I think I'll look into that for the v14.
I'll let friends buy new games and I'll just borrow those.
