Okay, first of all I'm a n00b at this, I'm just barely competent enough to successfully capture tv/vhs/video game stuff and play it back on my tv or computer.
I checked around in the forums, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm probably missing something obvious.

Here's my problem: While I've had no problems with framerate and resolution, I've noticed that things that appear bight when played on video or seen on television (i.e. sunlight, special effects) bleed pretty badly when I input into my computer or attempt to capture. This happens when I try to record television, video tapes, and video games. I tried to fix the problem by adjusting the brightness in my video source device settings, but to no avail. Please point me in the right direction.

I'm currently using VirtualDub as my primary video capturing software, and it hasn't been giving me any trouble. I'm not sure exactly what my video card is, but it's one of the cards from the Gainward GeoForce3 Powerpack series and supports composite and S-video (I've been using composite).

EDIT, here's some new info:

I'm guessing that the brightness bleeding problems might be due to not being able to change my Video Format settings to anything but UYVY? Could this be the problem, and if it is, what do I do about it? I'm pretty sure my card can support at least a few other Formats. bah, I'm such a n00b.
