Hi everyone. I'm new here. I've scrolled through the forums and have found many knowledgable posters and threads.

I live in Ohio and high school football team won the state championship. There is a huge fanbase in my town and I have made quite a bit of money by ripping the games on to DVDs (they are shown on local television) and authoring them with menus/chapters.

Now, I have all of these DVDs and I have had several requests from people who want me to make highlight videos. I've looked into software, but everything that I've found for making highlight tapes (cutting certain plays and syncing them up with music) is only good for mpeg, avi, etc. I really don't want to convert down to those lesser formats when I have very good quality .vob files that I could construct a video from.

What software would be easiest/best to make a highlight video with .vob files? I want to cut certain plays from different games and sync them up with music (Tool, specifically..lol)?

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

By far and away, the best and most user friendly video editing software is Pinnacle Studio. Currently the version is 10, I'm not a big fan of 10 because I think they released it too early and I don't like the whole "suite" idea. I've had spectacular results with Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus. Very easy to use. Simply import your video file, (must be in MPEG II or AVI format. To import you can get a dvd to MPEG, AVI converter easily) and edit with all kinds of professional movie editing tools such as transitions, backgrounds, titles, menu's, overlays [overlays are mostly for doing the credits at the beginning and end of a movie]. You can do special effects such as sounds, green screen [add yourself right into the movie]. It's crazy awesome. Everything is drag and drop too. Just drag what you want right into the editor and it more or less builds the movie for you. Definitely worth the investment, especially if you plan to make money off of it.

Thanks for the info. I will give it a try. Like I said, I would like to build the videos using my .VOB files, but if there is no software that will work with a highlight video using .VOB files, then I guess I'll have to convert.

Can you give some simple instructions on converting VRO or VOB files to MPEG II or AVI (for use in Pinnacle 9)? Do you know if Pinnacle 9 or 10 supports dolby digital (Ulead 3 does not)? Thanks, Denny

I use super video converter or Mainconcept MPEG Converter. Either or, depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. Super Video converter converts every type of video media to whatever type of video media you want to convert to. Mainconcept does the same as well. As for the Dolby. Yes, Pinnacle does support versions 2 channel and 5.1 but not DTS. both the 2 channel and 5.1 will have to be unlocked in Studio in order to use them. By default they only give you PCM. Hope this helps
