I've decided to switch from using my swap magic discs and slide tool to using a HDD Loader. After reading some guides online, i just wanted to get everything straight before i head out and buy a network adapter. Right now, i have the swap magic discs, slide tool, burned copy of hd loader dvd, maxtor hdd, and the hdl dumb program. just were wondering if these steps will work.

1) Format the Hard drive with WINHIIP.
2) Insert Hard drive into ps2 with ehternet adapter.
3) Use swap magic and load the burned HD LOADER dvd.
4) Use HDL Dumb to load games onto Hard drive.
5) Play games!

so, will i be succesfull in using the HD Loader? also, if there is another way to do this, i would be glad to know. any help is greatly appreciated.

Thats more or less what I did the second I got my swap magic discs.
But instead I opted to go with the memory card exploit, and put the HDDloader elf on there, and then I just leave a ps1 game in the system and I dont have to use the tray at all.

As for ftp, thus far ive only used execftp for accessing my memory card from my pc with FlashFXP, and a harddrive partition I made with some other elfs.
As for hldumb, i heard the speeds are horrible. As in when I had the hdd in my pc and xfered an iso, itd take 1-3 minutes. i read using hdldump and whatnot can take up to 40-60mins. i hope not.

Oh, didnt see the memory card exploit. could you possibly point me in a direction? also, how would u add games onto the HD without HDL Dumb? Could you just copy and paste it into there? thanks

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 shows how to install the exploit. The easiest way top add a game is to just insert it into the ps2 when hdloader has loaded the go to install. The fastest way is to put your hdd into your computer as a slave drive and load them from an iso on your hard drive.
