If I install the newest Firmware onto my new Matrix Infinity chip, is that all I need to do to play backups, or do I need to install a different BIOS?

I just downloaded the updated firmware, its a zip file. To actually update the chip, do I unzip it onto a CD and then just insert it into the PS2?

Yeah first you unzip it and then there should be a readme file that tells you how to burn it.

Yes you unzip it. Then burn it to CD with Alcohol 120%.
1. Open Alcohol 120%.
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it.
4. Once it's open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file and click image burning wizard.
5. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, the write method to DAO/SAO, the datatype to PS2, and click next.
6. Once it's done, insert the CD in your PS2 and follow the onscreen prompts.

When I do this "write method to DAO/SAO, the datatype to PS2, and click next" it changes the datatype from PS2 to Customize. When I change the customeize back to PS2 it changes the write method.

To be honest, the write method isn't all that important with Alcohol 120%. What does it change it to, RAW-DAO? If so that should be fine too.
