Hello, has anyone had much experience using InterVideo WinDVR 3 for capturing Video and Audio??
I have been able to get clear picture, but the sound isn't the best, only way I can describe what it sounds like is a chewed up casstte tape or looped, if I could only get the sound to record properly would be happy with the end result.

I use WinDVR 3.0 all the Time and Have never had any problems with bad audio....
What are you useing to Playback the Captured Mpeg-2 files?? Don"t use Media Player, Use a Proper DVD Playback software Like "PowerDVD" or "WinDVD" also if that doesn"t help then Maybe try recording through the "Mic" instead of the "Line In" on your Sound Card or the Other way arround....

Hi thanks for replying. I do use Windows Media Player to view the video, haven't actually tryed WinDVD to view, might give that a try. I thought maybe it was the VCR, tryed cleaning the heads that did nothing. I have tryed a variety of different video tapes and it still does it. I have been using the acutal capture device for the audio, tryed the audio on my sound card, not sure if it made much difference.
I will let you know if the sound improves after I try what you suggested, thanks again.

For some reason its not letting me select line in or mic,(WinDVR 3) I select my sound card the source is only cd player option its the same for the capture device too, I have everything hooked up right, just not letting me select another source.

Well that is because you do not have your windows recording settings set up properly....
Right click your Volume icon in your TaskBar and go to "Open Volume Controll" and in the New window that pops up go to "Options" to "Properties" and a new window will pop up and in that Window put a check next to "Recording" and then at the Bottom select "Line in" and "Microphone" and click "OK" and a new window will pop up and in this window you put a Check mark in the "Select" Box under either "Microphone" or "Line in" depending on what Input on your sound card you are useing.....
Now when you go into WinDVR you should be able to set the Input source as either "Line In" or "Mic" but it has to be selected in the Audio settings or it won"t work.....

PS: Your card is a Good one if you are Primarilly Watching/Captureing Digital/Satalite TV but if you are Doing mostly Regular TV and VHS Captures you would have been better off getting a Hardware Mpeg-2 Encoder card which would have produced better quality when doing VHS and Regular TV and at about the same price or a Bit Cheaper....

I did make sure i had the line in and mic in ticked. I did what you said. But it is still not letting me select line in or mic in WinDVR there is only the CD Player option.

Hi I got it to work. for some reason its still only letting me use the cd player option while using the capture tv tuner.
I have tryed other programs, I feel InterVideo is best for me, don't want to have to edit just record and have the file there on my computer.
However its still making a slight crackle and distorted like its a tape thats looped and not sounding right. Otherwise the program works great picture quality is exactly what I want, just the sound is the concern thats all.
Hope someone can offer some suggestions or feedback

Well if you get a Crackle or Backround Noise in the Captured audio then it is Usually from either Noise on the VHS Tape or your Sound Card isn"t very Good for Recording which is the Case with most Integrated or Cheaper Sound Cards.....
If you want Better audio Quality you Might consider Upgradeing your Sound Card to Maybe an Audigy 2 or even better a M-Audio Audiophile Card or a Delta 66 but they are very Expensive ($100-$200) and are used for Professinal audio Recording but the Audigy 2 card can be found for under $50 and are Very Good at audio Recording....

I have a creative sound blaster audigy usb one it works really well for recording but for some reason its not picking up any sound on the WinDVR program
The sound card in the computer i am using to capture is a very good one too, so not sure whats causing the noise. Yes it could be the tapes too, but I tryed another program such as Ulead it didn't make the noise so not sure
Is there software that can actually take the noise out of a recorded mpg?
