I've used the search, but none seem to match my issue. I respectfully request the help of anyone who may have some suggestions, as Im far from a veteran of backing up DVD's.

Also, Im trying like heck to stay within the forum rules while explaining this.

To reduce the time creating the images for movies that I own, I grabbed them from another source. These images appear just fine, the movie plays and sounds great in the DVD Shrink 3.2 "preview" window, etc.

I dont bother with menus and extra's, I'm only ever interested in the main movie, so I reauthor often.

I have images for The Island and Madagascar... I try to burn (I use AnyDVD, DVD Shrink and Nero for the burning), but have created 4 coasters. Needless to say, I'm slightly errm, mad..

I've backed up 70+ movies using the above program combination with no troubles whatsoever (especially since I usually only backup the main movie).. but thats when I use images that I created myself.

My DVD player either just out right ignores the DVD like its not a DVD.. or for the Madagascar it says something to the affect of "disc cannot be played in this area", which, to me sounds like a region issue.. but, I use AnyDVD to strip and in Shrink I've tried it using the "region free" (the default choice I usually always use) and after the first coaster I tried locking it to region 1 (US/Canada), but still.. it gives the error, as if something is imbedded in the movie file itself.. I don't get it. Any and all help is appreciated.

Oh, correction. I've made four coasters for Madagascar. Two using Verbatims (ever since the PS1 came out I havent used anything but and never looked back), then for sh*ts and giggles I tried a TDK (of which I must admit the 50 pack I got is down to 10 left, 40 of which made NO coasters but the reflective material sucks and is easy to crack/flake which is bad, real bad) and then I tried a Sony.

It's driving me nuts.. and until I read replies, Im not going to try to make another backup (cough*coaster*cough).. :/

According to your first post it sounds like you are doing everything right. Madagascar is known to cause problems, but the current version of AnyDVD will handle it (it did mine anyway), make sure that you are using the newest revision of AnyDVD (5.6.3.1), and as you said movie only no extras in DVD Shrink.

As for the Island, I used DVD Decrypter (first) in file mode and selected all files. I then used DVD Shrink to backup the movie only, no AnyDVD required.

As for the media, TDK is not recommended as you are finding out the hard way. Sony, Fuji, Maxell are good ones but only if made in Japan. Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the other recommended blanks. These five brands are the only ones really recommended here at AD.

I see that you are using Nero for the burn, perhaps you could provide a burn log to see if there may be another culprit for your problems.
