I have been backing up DVD's for over a year now. I intalled a demo version of Nero 7.0.1.2 After the demo expired I removed it and reinstalled Nero 6 which I successfully used prior to 7.0.1.2. This is when my problems bagan. I am in the last 10 of a 100 pack of Fuji DVD+R media all of which have been successful back-ups until recently. Included is my error log. Thanks

Updated Nero and Firmware. Still making coasters. Adjusted compression down to 4300, still did not help. I seem to be getting the error at the same time on each burn around 41% complete. I am using Fuji DVD+R. Am about 80 into a 100 pack, all the rest have been successful. Hear is my latest error log. Thanks.

If this is the case then why is it burning up to 42% then erroring out? I would think that if the media was not recognized that it would not burn anything at all, and I never had a problem with the last 80 back-ups. According to Dell the latest firmware available for my drive "NEC-5100A" is v.10FE which is what I have installed. Any other suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

It's still the newest but just not new enough to recognize your disc. From the rpc site I see that it came out in july of '04. Most burners get new firmware after several months. But not a year.

I think I had a similar problem. I used Ridata for months with no real problems then at the suggestion of some one here on the forum I updated my firmware for the burner and updated the nero and now I can't use Ridata at all. Sony works and Taiyo Yuden works ,but Ridata
Forget it. I feel it's best to leave things the way they are when there working. I do beleive the people attempting to help others on this forum all have good intention ,however there advice is'nt always as good as we all hope it would be. I think if Nebo 32 were to restore what he had ,the way it was he might just fine eveything is working again. I wish him luck as I have been there done that.

.....that's most definitely, categorically firmware that is unable to recognise the discs being used at the time. that's not opinion, but fact i'm afraid :)

I have flashed my drive to the latest firmware, installed latest Nero, DVD Shrink, and DVD Decryptor. Still erroring out around 42%. I am going to try to restore my machine to a point when I know everything was working good. Does anyone know if WinXP SP2 has been causing issues like this?
