About half an hour ago I found my daughter had spilled a very sticky orange juice drink on her brand new PS2 slimline last night. When she gets home, I will kill her, but in the meantime I need to ask for some info please...
I have inspected the PS2 unit, and the outer casing was sticky, have rectified this, but what is the biggest risk now? The slimline does have very few holes in it for air venting, maybe some of the drink got inside this way. How can I check if it is safe to use?
It would probably be best if you let it dry out for a day or two just to make sure you don't short anything out and fry the motherboard and then try turning it on after that.
PS2 are not toys and she should not be having drinks near the console in the first place... when there is dust on my PS2 i use cotton buds to clean the ps2 maybe that will help and use a bit of cleaning solution to clean as much as you can. and she should have her ps2 taken away for punishment if that was my daughter.

Thanks for the info jalaneme, but please spare me the parenting advice in future please. As wonderful as your suggestions are, they are more than just a little patronising considering that our daughter is 11 years old and has been told before about drinks around electricity and previously has a great track record of looking after things. All I asked for was a bit of advice, not to be shot down in flames!!! If you have children, which I very much doubt judging by the tone of your reply, than you will know that you can't keep eyes on them 24/7.

righto u bloody nerds its just a freaking playstation not a bloody 2000 year old scripture! Anywayz, yeah safe bet would just be to let it dry for a few day to be on the safe side id be concerned wat would happen to the sugar if it gets hot and its actually seeped into the playstation, really dependent on how much got in there! (if any) Accidents happen, hope it goes well
