hi ive downloaded some films and movies but there all AVI. is there any software i could download which are free to convert the AVI files MPEG? i want to do this becuase my friends have told me that i can put MPEG files on a CD. can i then play that cd on any dvd player? plz help me. i have cyberlink power to go and nero 7 ultra edition. could you plz help me i beg you!

Hi,

As far as I know,Nero reads .AVI files. Open NeroVision Express and choose make cd-->Video cd or SuperVideo cd.Add your .AVI files and let NVE take care of the rest.

thanks 4 ur help! but wen i do that will most dvd players play the VCD? if you can put films on VCD then how come not every one does it?
sorry 4 qll the questions its just tht im new to vcds.

I'm quite sure most commercial DVD players play both VCD and SVCD.Try it and see.

ok i will! thanks alot for your help! i need to ask you one more thing. you see the speed it says on a cd or a dvd like on a dvd it says 8x and on a cd it says 52x. is that the speed you should burn your media on

I havent had any problems burning at 52x for cds but for DVDs i suggest burning at half the posted speed(4x over 8x) to avoid problems.
