I just burned 30 dvd from the library using only shrink and nero. So I know my shrink program is working.
Now I tried to burn a back up copy of The Cave and had problems .
First dvd dycripter rejected it. Fair enough ,so I used DvdFab which dycripted it ,then I went through VOB Blanker because shink couldn't find the file. Then I took the VOB results through shrink. Here's where it got interesting. The shrink program said it would not fit on the dics an told me to turn the compression controls on to automatic. Well theye were on . So I made my target a bit bigger and went ahead with my fingers crossed. It went really quick. Too quick I thought still about 12 minutes later I had my back up copy. If I were to believe what shrink was telling me it should not have worked or fit. So now I am wondering if our friends at Sony haven't come up with still another way of screwing things up. Is it posible that they have inserted something on the disc to confuse DVD shring into thinking there's more then there really is? Any how I just bought 5 double layer blanks. $ 3.00 each . What a rip. Excuse the pun.
If anyone can shead some light on this situation I would apreciate it.
Thanks.

That movie is not scheduled for release until 1/3/2006, acording to the $ony website.. I know some folks get it early somehow. It wouldn't suprise me if you were dealing with ARcOSS. It seems like it did everything one of those DVDs do. It confused Shrink and Decrypter. DVDFab Decrypter can handle the ARcOSS though so that is probably what got you through it. Time will tell. It looks like a good movie, did you like it?

I haven't seen it yet my self. So I take it from what you wrote that this problem I had isn't all that uncommon?

Not with Sony discs...their Arcoss protection will give multiple errors, depending on what proggy your using. I've ripped movies in as little as 5 minutes and change, some just go faster than others.
