Hi all,

I have read lots of posts on this subject, but still need some clarification.

We have a Swap magic 3.6 with slide tool.

I have downloaded King Kong, which is allegedly in PS2 format. It is an ISO file, which I understand is a disc copy format. Mot of the games we play are on DVD-rom's, so I burnt a dvd using Nero 6 to DVD ROM. When loaded using the swap magic. the message stated "Disc not PS2 format". I used a DVD-RW disc and now learn from posts on here that it must be a DVD-R or DVD+R.

My question is;

If I reburn the DVD Rom format to the proper disc type, will the game run using Swap Magic 3.6, or do I have to do anything else such as recoding the ISO or burning in a different format?

Many thanks

Billybrock

i'm going to assume that you have the original. you need to burn it as an image, to do this in nero, open nero burning rom close the 'New Compilation' window that pops-up click on 'recorder' at the top of the screen and click 'burn image' then choose the ISO. also, don't burn to RW, burn to -R for the highest compatability, don't burn faster than 4X and what brand of media are you using?

My Grandson has the original, and we copied it to hdd, where it appeared in ISO format. I then burned this to Phillips DVD+RW, but the playstaion did not recognise the format.

I will try what you suggest and see if it works. many thanks.

did u download the game? if u did then extract the rar file, the on the last rar file that appears, might be 1 or 2 rar files, right click on the last 1 and open with image files, put the disc in and burn

thecraigc,
Could I ask you to clarify a small matter at this time, Ive read that you need to extract the Rar file with the last file ie ; highest numbered file in the folder. Is this true as Ive extracted my first file by clicking on the .001 file and letting the lot follow.
Hope you can set me right on this as I dont want to begin using WinRAR and later find Im doing it back-to-front if you know what I mean.
Cheers.

I have done everything that has been recommended above, but the ps2 is still rejecting the copy as not being in PS" format.

I have a v7 Ps2 and am using Swap magic with slide tool.

Any suggestions of why this is happening or how I can check the format on the discs I have burned?

@ lazyfish -- i'll write it in steps, its just that when i replyed the first time i was too tired.

1. download the game
2. open the rar file ( may be in a folder )
3. if you can't see any other rar files within that rar file go to step 4, if you can go to step 8
4. right click on the rar icon then open with, image files
5. nero burning rom should appear (it looks something like this )

6. change the settings to what is shown
7. click on burn then put in a disc

8. you will need to extract the first rar file ( right click on the rar icon that may be in a folder, then extract here )
9. open the second rar file to check if there are or anrn't any more rar files
10. if there are no more go to step 4, if there are more go back to step 8 and repeat untill you need to goto spet 4

@ Billybrok : maybe the game needs to be rebuilt in order for it to work with swapmagic.
Also, what media are you using?

I was gonna make my own thread, but I have almost exactly the same problem as Billybrock, except I have Alcohol 120%.

I've got a modded slimline PS2, which arrived today. (Modchip=DMS4) I tried burning a downloaded game, but the message stated that it wasn't in PS2 format when I tried to boot it.

The file that I burned was an ISO File. I opened it up in Image Burning Wizard. I only had one choice of Write method: DVD DAO. The guide that I found to burning PS2 games on Alcohol 120% said that you should select DAO/SAO as your Write method, but it wasn't there in the drop down menu :-/ ...So I went ahead and burned the disc, anyway, but now it won't boot.

Should I switch to DVD Decrypter? Do I have the right file? I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing when I extracted the WinRAR files, but I ended up with a single, large, ISO file and one very small .nfo file. (Which isn't anything: just a bit of useless info.)

Advice please :-/

I just tried, er, making a 'legal' back up of a game I already own. I followed an Alcohol 120% burning guide exactly. Same message: it tells me to insert a Playstation 2 format disc.

I understand that when you buy a PS2 with a modchip, you have to 'flash the bios' to get the modchip to boot back ups. I was told, though, my PS2 would arrive ready to plug in and play e.g. that that part would be done for me.

Is the message I'm getting consistent with the modchip's bios not having been flashed?

Sorry for so many questions. Sorry for rather taking taking over this thread too :-/

No worries anymore, the problem has been solved :p

It was my obviously crappy DVD burner at fault. The games played fine after being burned on my dad's burner.

So, now to go and play my legal backups. Yes, legal... >_>

hey cringle88... Do you have a torrent downloading program, like bittorrent or Azureus(this one is better), If you don't, google Azureus on how to use and download it. Then go to the site http://www.torrentspy.com search for red faction 2, and bob's your uncle.
