HMPFR!
This is bothering me.
I always thought TMPGenc was better then CCE
But now I'm reading CCE is better here, there i read TMPGenc is best.
Does anyone know which one i should use for my DVD ripping to get the best results?
I hear CCE is better for SVCD, but TMPGenc is best for VCD. And I'm quite confused.
I've always used TMPGenc, and i got pretty good results. But if there's a quality difference, I'm ready 2 make the switch to CCE.
Please help! I need ur opinion!

well these links will answer your question..i have used both and posted online 3 files of the 1st 6 minutes of iceage. 1 file is vcd in tmpgenc, 1 file is svcd using tmpgenc, and 1 file is svcd using cce. just burn them to cd and view them on a dvd player and judge for yourself.

you will need a hispeed line because 6 minutes = 60meg in svcd and 30 meg in vcd.

here's my assesment on both...for vcd, tmpgenc works great... for svcd, I like cce for 2 reasons. 1. to do a 90 minute movie in svcd using vbr settings and 4 pass on my 1.1, it takes cce 10+ hours (tmpgenc takes 20+ hours in 2pass vbr highest quality motion precision). The outcome is cce is a little better quality even though it does it 2wce as fast. how much better is very judgemental because both do a great job at the highest settings.
Now, I will use tmpgenc in svcd for movies that are 16:9 widescreen or amaphoric because I can covert them to 4:3 (to fit non-widescreen tv)without stretching the picture. tmpgenc has a setting in video setting to set 'no margins full screen' .this takes widescreens or amaphoric and stretches the picture and cuts the sides off to stretch it without changing the aspect ratio. CCE does not have an easy way to convert without stretching the picture.
hope this helps..
