Can I Use an External USB HDD?

I know people usually install internal Hard-Drives in their Xbox's, but I was wondering if I can use an external USB HDD instead? I don't wanna have to open up my Xbox, I just wanna be able to put my games on my HDD. Thanks in advance. :D

im pretty sure you can "technically" do it, but im pretty sure only with linux installed.

use google and youll probably get a tunn of info.
