Can someone tell me how to fix this problem everytime I put a disk in my Playstation 2 I get a "Disk Read Error" and a "No Data" that pops up when trying to read any disk. I have cleaned the laser and cleaned it out really good as far as the dust goes that was in it. If anyone has any other suggestion could you please help I'm trying to fix this for my nephews before I have to buy a new one.

Has it worked in the past, or is this PS2 used that you received not working? If so, it could be a bad laser, and might have to be replaced. Also, what kind of discs have you tried using? Standard PS2 discs? Try inserting and audio CD and see if it reads.

You also should have posted this in the PS2 forum, you would get better help there...a mod should move it soon.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

if you already tried cleaning it with those CD brush cleaners, then it probably is a laser going bad. how long have you had it? If its brand new than its probably still under warranty. If not, you can get a new laser assembly for it.

It is not under warranty anymore and how do you get a laser assembly for it?
