I kept getting disc read errors, so I went to clean the laser. I've been inside of the PS2 before, so I knew what I had to do. After undoing all of the screws on top (to take the casing off), I forgot about the wire inside and yanked it off a little too hard. The wire fell off, so I tried to put it back, but I had no luck. Now, it won't turn on. Is there anyway I could fix this wire?
Sorry to double post, but I found a picture of what this cable is.
I just need to put it back where it ripped out from, but I don't know exactly where that is. I can see that I didn't rip it or anything, so just "plugging" it back in might do the trick. Any help?
yes it has to be put in, come on how else do you expect to power it on???? you know from your first post that it doesn't power on now with it out. you really made yourself look ignorant with that comment.
to install it you find that empty slot i mentioned in the above post, make sure the blue tab is away from the board and push it into the slot.
Does this require detaching the motherboard from the rest of the system? Last time I tried that, it didn't work out very well. I had to have one of my brothers friends reattach 2 or 3 things.
the metal motherboard cover does not have to be removed but you'll have better luck trying to get it in if you do remove the bottom cover of the PS2, just pull the two screws that hold the controller port and the bottom will remove, be careful here or you'll pull the controller port connection out because the port will flop about once the screws are removed.
your comment: I've been inside of the PS2 before, so I knew what I had to do........ seams to be a bit misleading, you don't have a clue as to what is going on here, this is very simple disassembly/reassembly problem, and i use the word problem very loosely there as this isn't a problem for 99.9999999999% of people who have taken at least one console apart.
the cursing is uncalled for and against the rules of posting, lets try to clean it up and hopefully you got the ribbon cable reinstalled and all is working again.
